Spinal Manipulation

Spinal manipulation is a therapeutic intervention performed on synovial joints in the spinal column. The goal is to restore function of the joints and the surrounding soft tissues, which allows for improved nervous system function as well as proper alignment and posture.

Most commonly provided by chiropractors, there are various techniques of spinal manipulation including:

  • Instrument assisted
  • Diversified
  • Thompson
  • Gonstead
  • Flexion/Distraction

The joints most commonly manipulated are the zygapophysial joints. However, the occipitoatlantal, atlanto-axial, lumbosacral, sacroiliac, costotransverse, and costovertebral joints can also be addressed.

Careful analysis of motion x-ray can lead to the recommendation of the best technique for your injury so you can recover as quickly as possible.
